GrowStar

Urban agriculture platform: hydroponic tower monitoring, marketplace and AI assistant.

GrowStar

Overview

GrowStar was born from the ambition to innovate urban agriculture. The founder wanted to enter hydroponics but without a clear direction: there were too many possible entry points and no priority.

I started with a market analysis and identified modular hydroponic towers as the ideal entry point: a recognizable physical product, sellable as a unit and scalable by module. From there I built the whole digital ecosystem, from brand identity to the website up to the platform.

The platform is built for growers: a tower dashboard shows temperature, humidity, pH/EC and water level; an AI assistant diagnoses plants from a photo; a nutrient inventory warns when stock drops below threshold; an integrated marketplace with Stripe checkout completes the buying experience.

Technically it is a React and TypeScript app on Supabase, with OpenAI GPT-4 for image-based diagnosis and Recharts for visualizing sensor data. The idea is that digital is not an accessory but the way the physical product becomes understandable and manageable.

Defining the positioning allowed a fast first MVP launch and gathered interest from early adopters, enabling the first direct tower sales and automated collection of usage data.
